¿Qué hace Fly.io?

Fly.io has a new pitch: stop squeezing your AI agents into sandboxes and give them a real computer. The platform now offers Sprites — hardware-isolated Linux VMs built specifically for agents, evals, and tools. Each Sprite can sleep, wake up, and remember everything, so a coding agent can work, checkpoint itself, and later resume exactly where it left off. The bill drops to zero when nothing is running, which makes it easy to spin up an agent for a task and let it disappear afterward.

The selling point is that you don't have to babysit infrastructure. The disk grows as you write to it, up to 100 GB, and you're billed for the bytes you actually use, so there's no disk sizing. Checkpoints happen automatically, and rollback is quick. Every Sprite gets an HTTPS URL, so an app an agent builds can go live in place. Sprites Connectors handle credentials: you configure a service like GitHub, Slack, or OpenRouter once, then grant individual Sprites access down to a single endpoint. Tokens never land on the VM, and key rotation applies everywhere at once.

This is for teams building coding agents, personal agents, or MCP servers that need persistent state and isolation. It's also handy for running untrusted code in a clean VM per request, or for agent-built apps that need a live URL without a separate deployment pipeline. The page frames it as "computers for agents," and that's exactly what it is — infrastructure, not a magic AI brain.

Características principales

Qué la hace destacar
01
Every agent gets a hardware-isolated Linux VM that checkpoints itself, so long-running work resumes cleanly
02
Disk auto-grows to 100 GB and billing is based on bytes written, so there's no capacity planning
03
Connectors store credentials centrally and grant access per Sprite or per endpoint, so tokens never sit on the VM
04
Sprites have persistent storage backed by object storage, with rollback to any checkpoint in seconds
05
Each Sprite has an HTTPS URL, so agent-built apps can go live immediately without a separate deploy
