minimi

minimi is a Mac app that acts as an ambient memory layer for Claude. It runs in the background and captures everything you do on your computer — every browser tab, document, call, and chat — without requiring any manual setup or integrations. Once installed, it feeds that live context to Claude so you can ask questions like "What did I promise to send by Friday?" or "Find that article I was reading last Tuesday" and get accurate answers based on your actual activity.

The app works by recording your screen activity and storing it as encrypted embeddings in a local vector database on your Mac. Nothing is uploaded to the cloud. The embeddings are generated using Google's Gemini API on a paid plan, which means Google does not train on or retain your data. When you ask Claude a question, minimi retrieves the relevant memories, decrypts them temporarily for processing, and re-encrypts the response. The company says it is 50% more accurate than previous state-of-the-art memory benchmarks (measured on the BEAM benchmark from ICLR 2026).
