Boston Dynamics Spot

Boston Dynamics Spot is a four-legged robot designed to move through industrial sites, construction zones, and other complex environments that wheeled machines can't handle. It walks, climbs stairs, opens doors, and navigates rough terrain while carrying sensors that collect visual, thermal, acoustic, and gas detection data. Operators control Spot from a safe distance using a tablet or through automated mission scripts, making it useful for inspecting dangerous areas like oil rigs, chemical plants, and underground utilities.

What sets Spot apart is its balance of mobility and payload flexibility. The robot can carry up to 14 kg of custom equipment on its back, including lidar, high-resolution cameras, microphones, and radiation detectors. It uses computer vision and machine learning to map its surroundings, avoid obstacles, and follow pre-planned routes without constant human input. Data streams back in real time, and the robot can dock itself for charging when its battery runs low.
