Glint

Glint is a macOS menu bar application that provides real-time monitoring for Claude Code sessions. It sits discreetly near your notch or as a floating window, showing exactly what your AI coding assistant is doing at any moment. The tool reads local session logs to display live status updates, current tools in use, token consumption, and cost calculations without requiring you to switch windows or interrupt your workflow.

The app works by monitoring the ~/.claude/projects directory where Claude Code stores its session data. It presents information through three customizable surfaces: a notch-hugging overlay, a draggable floating pill, and a dock-side panel. Each surface shows the busiest session upfront while keeping others accessible. Glint displays detailed metrics including the AI model being used, reasoning effort level, context window usage, and any subagents Claude has dispatched for parallel work.

Glint is particularly useful for developers who regularly use Claude Code for programming tasks and want to monitor their AI usage patterns and costs. It helps teams manage multiple coding sessions simultaneously and provides visibility into how Claude Code approaches complex problems. The tool operates entirely locally on your Mac, with the only network call being license validation through Polar, ensuring your session data never leaves your device.
