What does Declaw do?

Declaw is a secure runtime for AI agents that bundles sandboxing, network controls, credential management, and guardrails into a single SDK. Instead of stitching together five separate vendors for isolation, policy enforcement, and logging, Declaw gives you a Firecracker microVM with a transparent security proxy that intercepts all outbound traffic. Your agent runs inside a hardware-isolated VM, and every request passes through a six-stage pipeline that checks network rules, decrypts TLS where needed, redacts PII, blocks prompt injections, and logs everything — all without code changes.

The standout feature is the per-sandbox security proxy. It runs outside the VM in its own network namespace, so a compromised agent can't bypass or tamper with it. You define network policies with IP/CIDR and domain allow/deny lists, store API keys in a credential vault that injects them at the proxy (secrets never enter the VM), and configure guardrails for PII, toxicity, and invisible text. Snapshots let you freeze a running VM and resume later, and volumes provide persistent storage that can be attached to multiple sandboxes. The SDK is available for Python, Node.js, and Go, and it works with any OpenAI-compatible API, LangChain, CrewAI, and more.
