What does Xtactor do?
xBand is a wearable device that turns digital information into silent vibration patterns on your wrist. Instead of glancing at a phone screen or listening to a voice notification, you feel the message. It can tell you the time, alert you to incoming calls or texts, and even let you type short replies using Morse code. The device is built with two specialized vibration motors that produce fast, distinct signals — much more detailed than the buzz of a typical smartwatch. The whole idea is to give you a way to stay connected without relying on sight or sound.
How does it work? You pair xBand with an iOS or Android app, which handles notifications and settings. The app also includes a Morse learning module if you want to practice. You can customize vibration patterns and speed to suit your preferences. Battery life is around seven days with normal use. The hardware is designed in Sweden, and the company has won an innovation award from the Swedish Post and Telecom Authority for making communication more accessible.
Who is xBand for? It’s aimed primarily at blind, visually impaired, and deafblind users who can’t always use screen readers or Braille displays. But it also appeals to anyone who wants a discreet, quiet way to check notifications — like in a meeting, a noisy environment, or just to avoid pulling out your phone constantly. Developers can also build new experiences on top of xBand’s vibration interface, and there’s a Discord community for sharing ideas and experiments.
