Ask the Record is a research tool that lets you ask plain-language questions about declassified U.S. government documents and get answers that link directly to the source page. Instead of wading through millions of pages yourself, you type a question — "What did the Nimitz pilots actually see?" — and the tool surfaces relevant documents, quotes the exact passage, and footnotes the page number. The corpus includes UAP/UFO files from the Department of War, CIA MKUltra records, FBI COINTELPRO files, and upcoming JFK assassination records.

How it works: Ask the Record ingests official releases — FOIA disclosures, Congressional reports, ODNI assessments, and agency archives — and indexes them using AI. When you ask a question, it retrieves the most relevant passages and presents them with a citation you can click to see the original PDF. The tool updates within hours of new government releases, so you can query the latest declassifications the same day they drop.
