Vital Care Finder MCP Server

The Vital Care Finder MCP Server connects AI assistants like ChatGPT and Claude to Vital's provider search database. Instead of manually browsing directories or calling clinics, you can ask your assistant to find a doctor near you, and it will search Vital's directory for providers matching your specialty and location. If you share your insurance details, the tool can check which providers accept your plan — all within the chat conversation. It returns an interactive card with up to eight ranked providers, complete with names, credentials, distance, phone numbers, star ratings, and treatment focus. You can tap to call a clinic directly without leaving the chat.

The server exposes two tools: find_doctor and find_insurance_plan. Your AI assistant decides when to call them, translating everyday language (e.g., 'heart doctor' into 'Cardiovascular Disease Physician') and pulling parameters from your conversation. The find_doctor tool accepts specialty, search location (ZIP or city/state), optional insurance plan or carrier, clinical context, and patient age. The find_insurance_plan tool matches a plain-language description of your insurance to specific plans in Vital's catalog. The system is stateless and requires no login — you can search without signing up. It uses the open Model Context Protocol (MCP) over Streamable HTTP, so any MCP-compatible client can connect.

The tool is read-only: it only searches and displays providers. No appointments are booked, and nothing is written on your behalf. Vital never receives your chat history or identity — only the search parameters you choose to share. This makes it ideal for anyone who regularly uses ChatGPT or Claude and wants a faster, more conversational way to find healthcare. It's particularly useful for people in the US who need to check insurance coverage on the fly, compare multiple providers, or find care while traveling. Developers can also integrate it into custom MCP clients for tailored healthcare search experiences.
