MagicPixel

MagicPixel is an AI pixel art generator and editor built specifically for game developers. You describe a sprite, prop, tile, or UI icon in plain English and get back grid-aligned, palette-controlled pixel art at resolutions from 16×16 up to 1024×1024. The output lands directly on a real pixel grid as editable layers, so you can fine-tune with built-in canvas tools without leaving the browser. No more juggling a chat tool, Aseprite, a palette site, and a file explorer — one workspace handles everything.

What sets MagicPixel apart from generic image generators is its developer-focused workflow. You can import Aseprite files (layers, frames, and animation tags preserved), remap any sprite to a custom palette imported from Lospec or GIMP, and generate matching item sets that share the same lighting, scale, and style. The CLI syncs saved assets straight into your project folder — works with Godot, Unity, GameMaker, and any engine that loads PNGs. MagicPixel also exposes an MCP server so agents in Claude, ChatGPT, or Cursor can generate sprites and check credits.
