What does Zush do?
Zush is an AI file renamer for Mac and Windows. It reads files across 104 supported formats — images, PDFs, audio, video, Office documents, and more — and builds each filename from the content, metadata, dates, and rules you choose. You preview every suggestion before renaming, and you can undo any batch with one click. Zush renames files where they are — it does not move or sort them into folders. Templates and folder monitoring handle repeat work, so you can set it and forget it.
The tool gives you full control over how names are constructed. You pick the fields, their order, separators, language, and date format. Zush suggests names based on what it finds inside each file — like extracting "Northstar Services Invoice" and "$59.99" from a PDF — and you decide whether to accept, edit, or reject. You can also add custom AI prompts to extract specific details, then reuse them as blocks in any template. For privacy-sensitive work, Zush supports local AI via LM Studio or Ollama, so files never leave your machine.
Zush is built for professionals who handle large volumes of files daily. Accountants can rename invoices and receipts by vendor, date, and amount. Medical practices can organize scanned records by patient ID and date of service, with local AI keeping data on-device. Legal teams can name filings by matter, date, and document type. Photographers and videographers can rename RAW photos and clips by project, date, subject, and take. The app works with cloud storage folders like iCloud Drive, Google Drive, Dropbox, and OneDrive, monitoring them in the background and processing new files automatically.
