What does xisland do?

xisland is a macOS-native utility that turns your Mac's Dynamic Island into a command center for AI coding agents. If you're running multiple agents like Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, or OpenCode in different terminal sessions, you know the struggle of constantly alt-tabbing to check on progress, approve file edits, or answer questions. xisland puts all that directly in the notch or as a floating pill on your menu bar, so you never have to leave your flow.

The app displays ongoing sessions with status indicators (active, idle, done) and lets you intercept actions like file edits or bash commands right from a popup. You can approve or deny without touching your terminal. Agents can ask you multiple-choice questions, and you pick an answer in the same popup. When you need to jump back to the exact terminal tab a session is running in, one click takes you there. It uses vim-style keyboard navigation (hjkl to move, enter to act), so you can stay entirely keyboard-driven.

xisland is built in Swift with SwiftUI and AppKit — no Electron, which means it's lightweight and responsive. It's free, and the developer is transparent about the limitations: the integration is tricky, and some agents and terminals work better than others. Claude Code on Ghostty or iTerm2 gives the best experience. If you're a developer who juggles multiple AI coding agents all day and wants to reduce context switching, xisland is a practical, focused tool that does one thing well.
