Hack Club

Hack Club is a non-profit organization that provides a home for high school students who are interested in coding. It connects over 100,000 teenagers worldwide through an online Slack community, in-person clubs, and a wide array of project-based programs. Members can join collaborative coding workshops, get feedback on their work, and find local or virtual events to participate in. The platform is designed to make the process of learning to code a social and supportive experience.

The community is built around active participation and open source collaboration. Hack Clubbers contribute to large shared projects, with over 16,000 pull requests made to their GitHub repositories each year. The organization runs numerous programs like 'Blueprint,' which provides up to $400 to fund hardware projects, and 'Flavortown,' where students earn virtual 'cookies' for building projects that can be exchanged for real prizes like iPads and MacBooks. They also host major in-person events, such as the Outernet camping trip and hardware hackathons in cities like Austin and Shenzhen.

This is an ideal environment for high school students at any coding level, from absolute beginners to experienced programmers. A student just starting out can join the 'Sleepover' program to learn fundamentals and earn plushies, while a more advanced maker might use 'Stasis' to get a complex hardware project funded. Educators and club leaders can also use Hack Club's resources to start and run coding clubs at their own schools.
