What does Crew do?
Crew is a tiny desktop app that lives at the bottom of your screen and pairs with Claude Code. For every chat and subagent you run, it places a small monster character — a flame creature, a sky bird, an electric orb, and so on. Each creature shows you what that agent is doing right now: thinking, running a tool, waiting for your input, or finished. You get a quick visual read on all your parallel sessions without alt-tabbing.
The app assigns each chat a consistent species based on a hash, so you learn to recognize which monster belongs to which session. The free version gives you live states, squad grouping (subagents huddle under their parent chat), and hover-to-inspect cards. The Pro version ($12 one-time) adds tap-to-jump — click a creature and its terminal comes to the front — plus the ability to approve bash commands without leaving the window, a dashboard with token usage and cost stats, and some playful extras like snacks and chase games. Everything stays local: Crew reads status files from your machine and sends nothing out.
This is for anyone running multiple Claude Code chats at once — developers juggling a plan agent, a code reviewer, and a general-purpose assistant, for example. Instead of clicking through terminal windows to check on each one, you get a persistent visual lane that tells you the state of every agent. It's a simple, focused tool that solves a real friction point for heavy Claude Code users.
