Overline is a Chrome extension that adds real-time AI captions and live translation on top of any video playing in your browser. Install it once, open a video on YouTube, Netflix, Coursera, or any other site, and a translucent overlay appears showing captions as the audio plays. No subtitle files, no tab switching — just read along in your chosen language. The free tier gives you 20 minutes of captioning per month, with Plus and Pro plans for more time.

The extension uses Deepgram's streaming speech recognition to transcribe speech within milliseconds. As you watch, you can switch between 10 output languages (Persian, Arabic, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Portuguese) — the translated captions update instantly without pausing the video. After each session, Overline saves the full transcript to your account. You can download it as a plain text file or SRT subtitle file for notes, review, or reusing elsewhere.
