Chimlo

Chimlo is a free, open-source macOS app that puts your coding agents — specifically OpenAI's Codex and Anthropic's Claude Code — into a small control surface at the top of your screen, right in the notch area. Instead of babysitting a terminal window, you get a live view of what each agent is doing: working, waiting for input, or finished. When an agent needs a decision — like approving a git push or answering a question — the island opens automatically, and you can reply or allow the action with a keyboard shortcut or click. Nothing runs until you say so.

The app works with the agents you already run. It shows each session's status, remaining usage capacity, and lets you jump directly to the exact terminal tab and pane in apps like iTerm2, Ghostty, and WezTerm. Chimlo is a native Mac app (not Electron), uses under 100 MB of RAM, and never steals focus. It also doubles as a media and volume control surface when no agents are active. The app is private by default — no cloud, no accounts, no sign-in, and your prompts and transcripts never leave your Mac.

Chimlo is built for developers who run long AI coding sessions and want to stay in their flow. It's especially useful for anyone using Codex or Claude Code for tasks like code review, build verification, documentation updates, or release management. The app is free and open source under GPL-3.0, requires macOS 14+ and Apple Silicon, and auto-updates.
