Edges

Edges is a physical rubber duck that talks back during your coding sessions. It listens to what's happening in your Claude Code terminal, understands the context, and responds out loud — with opinions. The duck speaks when Claude runs, fails, or hesitates, reacts physically via a micro-servo, and lets you approve actions using your voice. It's a playful take on rubber duck debugging, but the duck actually talks.

The duck connects over a single USB-C cable and runs on real hardware: an ESP32-S3 microcontroller, a micro-servo for movement, an I2S amplifier and speaker, a MEMS microphone, and a tactile button. Everything runs locally on M3+ Apple Silicon (M1/M2 supported with a free Gemini API key). You can toggle between Permissions mode — where the duck helps track when Claude gets stuck — and Companion mode, where it shares its inner monologue about how you work. Voice commands work by saying "ducky" followed by your instruction, so you never have to switch context or touch a modal dialog.

This tool is built for developers who use Claude Code and want a more tactile, playful debugging companion. It's also available as a macOS widget for those who don't want the physical hardware. The duck is open source, runs locally, and connects over a single USB-C cable.
